Introduction to housing models and ageing environments. 19.may - 26.jun

This course aims to generate a space for reflection and learning about housing alternatives during ageing, with an approach based on the concept of "lifelong accommodation". In a context of accelerated population ageing, the challenge of longevity calls into question institutional models and calls for the design of housing solutions and environments that respond to the complexity of the needs and demands of the elderly. The solutions must be as varied as the demand.

Objectives

  • Understand the complexity of ageing, as well as the diversity of old age.
  • Recognise the importance of the person-environment link and its influence on the development of models of accommodation for older people.
  • Compare different alternatives for lifelong living accommodation.
  • Identify key design elements in innovative solutions.
