Bizkaia: a place for all ages
Bizkaia is facing a demographic transformation characterised by an ageing population. This change challenges us as a society: creating age-friendly environments is now essential to ensuring quality of life throughout the entire life cycle, for both older and younger people.
In this context, age-friendliness is establishing itself as a strategic pillar linking international initiatives such as those of the WHO, the Euskadi Lagunkoia programme and ‘Bizkaia: A Territory for All Ages’ itself: a model that brings together and moves forward from the local level towards a shared vision of an inclusive territory.
After ten years of work and through its grant programme for local authorities, Bizkaia is presenting a report on the state of age-friendliness, which outlines progress, lessons learnt and challenges. The event will also provide a space for sharing and, above all, for listening to the key voices driving this process.
Our colleague Marta Moreno, a project officer for the Basque Government’s Euskadi Lagunkoia Berria project, will be speaking at one of the panel discussions.
