A new edition of the "Plátika" meetings organised periodically by the Bizan Network of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council.

This meeting, open to all citizens, will reflect on "Age discrimination: ageism, ageism and self-ageism" and we will work on questions such as: how do I feel about my age, is there a problem with my age, am I being judged because of my age?

Presentation of the monograph ZABALDU #1, a work in which different speakers address the concepts of equality of difference, diversity and non-discrimination and hate crimes from a sociological and legal perspective.

Among the participants, Sara Marsillas, researcher at the Matia Institute, spoke about the paradox of age discrimination and its contribution to social differences.

"Euskadi Lagunkoia" is a project of the Department of Employment and Social Policies of the Basque Government in collaboration with Matia Instituto, which aims to promote the participation of citizens and the public, private and social sectors to develop a movement of friendliness in the promotion of facilitating living environments for people who are ageing. 

There are currently more than 60 cities and towns throughout the Basque Country that are members of this Network and more than 800 included in the WHO World Network.

With this conference, organised by the Imserso, the aim is for people to learn about the discrimination suffered by the elderly from a scientific-technical point of view, what types of discrimination there are, where it manifests itself most intensely, what its consequences are, what types of discrimination there are, what studies exist on this problem, what instruments exist to combat it, etc.
