Prevalence study of mistreatment of elderly people in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country

For society, many of the phenomena associated with old age have remained hidden, avoiding in some way the knowledge of elements that do not fit with the perception of widespread wellbeing. Mistreatment affecting the elderly is one of them. Traditionally, society has tended to shirt its existence, but today, this complex issue has begun to acquire some social relevance. Although work is now being done on this issue in a number of institutional and scientific forums and non-governmental organisations, we know that we only have a glimpse of the tip of a large iceberg that remains hidden underwater.
