XV Conference of exchange and awareness-raising. Times of change and new horizons in mental health
Our colleague Gabriela Mondragón participates in this conference organised by Argia Fundazioa and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, in which we focus on mental health as an essential pillar of our well-being.
One of the most important changes is the shift towards a more person-centred approach. Today, society wants to be recognised as an active agent in its mental health process, to have a say in the decisions that affect its wellbeing and to exercise its right to decide for itself. This means that mental health services must adapt to offer a more collaborative and empowering approach, where autonomy and diversity of personal experiences are respected.
An ageing population, cultural diversity, technological advances that are changing the mental health landscape, all present us with new challenges, specialised services, more responsive and accessible interventions and different approaches to improve health and social services based on technological resources.
It is essential to prioritise people's participation and self-determination, to adapt services to cultural and demographic diversity, to take advantage of technological advances in an inclusive way and to train professionals to face emerging challenges with efficiency and empathy.
In her speech, Gabriela brings us closer to the experience of Egurtzegi's care homes.
