To analyse and compare the information collected in a Matia Hospital database – comprising data on patients admitted between January 2017 and January 2024 and identified as being at the end of life in the Matia Convalescence Unit – with a similar Osakidetza database containing information on A&E visits, hospital admissions and mortality.

The objectives set for this research are as follows:

  • To evaluate the prognostic ability of the Fragil-VIG index to predict 12-month mortality in patients admitted to a medium-stay hospital and identified as being in the end-of-life phase.
  • To analyse the different disease trajectories in patients with dementia versus those with end-stage organ failure.

Methodology: A retrospective longitudinal study. To conduct a survival analysis.

Collaborators on this study: Meytel and Osakidetza.
