Conference: Mental health, aging, and older adults

  Date:
22/10/2025
 Type: Conference
 Location: Donostia - San Sebastián

Mental health is vital at all stages of life, from childhood to old age. However, needs and challenges change over the years and often do not receive the attention they deserve. With this idea as a starting point, Agifes will hold a conference entitled “Mental health, aging, and the elderly,” a meeting to reflect on how serious mental health problems tend to accelerate premature aging and how to adapt care resources to this reality.

Among the speakers will be our colleague Gabriela Mondragón Olán, a neuropsychologist at Matia Fundazioa, as part of the Egurtzegi project, which offers care homes for older people with dependency, psychogeriatric, or functional diversity profiles.

The conference is part of the activities for World Mental Health Day, which is celebrated every October 10. This year, the slogan chosen by Salud Mental Euskadi (Basque Mental Health) is “Let's take care of mental health at all stages of life,” with a special focus on two groups that require more attention: young people and older adults.
