The Caja Navarra Foundation has been carrying out ambitious and innovative work to improve its Convive Centres for the elderly. It has proposed that they should be places where the elderly can build their life projects and find answers to their needs. Places that also contribute to the community of which they form part and are spaces for participation and personal development. This guide is the result of the work developed through two pilot experiences between 2019 and 2022.

The aim of the guide is to facilitate the transformation of the Convive Centres model, based on the interests and needs of the people who make up the Centres (users, elderly associations, professionals) and on the collaboration with their immediate environment (family members, other neighbourhood associations, other entities and services...). In other words, that the improvements are driven by the protagonists of the centres themselves, and in interaction with the community.

This material aims to serve as an inspiration to all those people who participate in a social centre for the elderly and have the need for change and progress, as well as to anyone in general with an interest in participatory and community experiences of proximity.
