Within the framework of a series of meetings on care organised by Oñati Town Council, our colleagues from Mati Instituto, Nerea Almazán and Nerea Etxaniz will be giving a talk on 9 November entitled: "Growing old in the 21st century. Models and challenges", which focuses on the diversity of realities of the elderly population that clashes with the ageist view that homogenises them.

To do so, we will talk about myths, Social Centres for the Elderly, elderly women and rethink the care we want.

The activity will start at 18:00 on the third floor of Eltzia.

Talk organised by Plus55 with our colleague and researcher at Matia Institute, Sara Marsillas, talking about what aspects people over 70 consider when they say they are ageing well and how they think about their desired future.

In addition, some of the main barriers and facilitators that people believe may appear and affect the process of desired ageing will be mentioned.

On Wednesdays 1, 8 and 15 February, the conference 'The importance of caring for the elderly' will be held in Azpeitia. Among the topics to be discussed are the evolution of the ageing society, the unwanted loneliness of the elderly, the public policies of the Azpeitia Town Council to face this challenge and the presentation of the infrastructures to be implemented in the short term.

Presentation of the Basque Strategy for the Elderly

Architectures for ageing

This UIK summer course addresses different aspects related to the ageing of the population from a social, urban and architectural perspective, with contributions from complementary disciplines. From the urban to the housing scale, we will look at the needs and the socio-economic and gender factors that hinder the ageing process in order to analyse possible measures aimed at improving the quality of life of this section of the population and, through it, of society as a whole, taking into account their life cycles.

Conference on Loneliness and the Elderly - Cycle of Social Challenges in the Balearic Islands

62nd Congress of the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology

On 22, 23 and 24 June geriatrics and gerontology will meet at the 62nd National Congress of the SEGG and the 23rd of the SMGG in Madrid to listen to experts who will address the challenge of ageing and which will include new sessions such as expert consultations and controversy on certain topics.

The first plenary session is entitled "Ageing: a challenge" and will deal with Key elements in health in ageing; biological keys to ageing well; different ways of ageing.
