Progress and challenges in the process of deinstitutionalisation and modernisation of social services.
At this first session of the multi-venue conference ‘The Care We Want’, we will review the key developments to date that are making it possible to transform the care model and move away from institutional care; but also the main challenges, the unanswered questions and the areas where greater effort is needed to achieve this systemic and cultural transformation of how citizens are cared for and supported at times of greatest vulnerability throughout their life cycle; whether in situations of dependency, disability or material poverty.
Parallel sessions will be organised around three main challenges:
• CHALLENGE 1: Making services and working practices more flexible.
• CHALLENGE 2: Coordinating different sectors and administrative levels to provide people-centred responses.
• CHALLENGE 3: Ensuring we move forward without leaving anyone behind.
