3rd World Congress on Age-Friendly Cities and Communities

  Date:
16/06/2026 to 18/06/2026
 Type: Congress
Location: Kursaal (Donostia / San Sebastián)

The first international age-friendly conference co-sponsored by the WHO in over 12 years will bring together cities, communities and global leaders in Donostia/San Sebastián (Gipuzkoa, Basque Country) from 16 to 18 June 2026 under the theme ‘Transforming Together! An Age-Friendly World – Connected, Equitable and Sustainable for All Generations’.

Since the creation of the Global Network in 2010, the age-friendly movement has grown exponentially. At the same time, older adults today face a rapidly changing global context with multiple interconnected crises, yet they are also more diverse and have more to contribute than ever before.

The Congress will address this reality through three interconnected themes:

  • Connecting generations, technology and care, bridging gaps between generations, digital divides, and primary versus secondary/formal and informal care.
  • Equitable communities to ensure that no one is left behind.
  • Building more sustainable Age-Friendly Communities.
