Supporting preferences that involve risks

  Date:
27/10/2022
 Type: Webinar
Line of Knowledge: Planning and models of care
 Location: Online

The development of care approaches centred on people's wishes and autonomy entails the need for resources and strategies that promote it. At Matia and ACP Gerontology we wanted to contribute to the establishment of good practices applicable either in the home or in social and healthcare centres, with the publication of two new materials that are part of the project "Routes for the Advancement of Person-Centred Care".

At this event, the route "Preferences that involve risks" and the guide "Shared decision-making in the face of preferences that involve risks" are presented. Two publications that seek to systematise the existing knowledge and experience in facilitating a shared decision-making process in care in the face of people's preferences that may conflict with other values that we must also protect, such as health or safety.

These documents, co-financed by the Department of Equality, Justice and Social Policies of the Basque Government, are the result of a collaborative process whose main objective has been to integrate the knowledge and experience provided by the professionals of Matia, with an expert vision, such as that of Teresa Martínez, Dr. in Health Sciences, gerontological psychologist and a reference in Person-Centred Care.

On 27 October at 18:00 PM (GMT+2), we would like to invite you to get to know this publication in detail. We will do so through a webinar, lasting one hour, in which its authors will review and share with all of us, the most important aspects of a route that calls for a change of approach in care, where the self-determination of the person, their ability to decide, their voice... becomes a key part of this good care.
