In this open and informal talk, we will discuss caring for people with Alzheimer's and the challenges faced by carers. Carers are often young family members, so this session is aimed at all ages and focuses on understanding, practical tools and the importance of solidarity.The event, led by our colleague Itziar Gurrutxaga, a trainer in basic training courses for family carers and a therapist on the Sendian programme, will take place at the Casa de Cultura Fernando Arnezketarra. 4th Introduction to Hospital Pharmacy in Vocational Training Conference

Organised by the COFG's Hospital Pharmacy Department, 135 students from Inmakulada Lanbide Ikastola (Tolosa), CPES Cesa (Urnieta), CIFP Don Bosco (Rentería) and CIFP Plaiaundi (Irun) took part in the event.

During the day, the students, from the intermediate level of pharmacy and parapharmacy technicians and the higher level of medicine preparation, had the opportunity to learn about part of the day-to-day life of a hospital pharmacy service, the professional categories that make it up, competencies, as well as part of the portfolio of services.

Training of caregivers in competencies for person-centred care

Today, an estimated 5 million paid caregivers are needed to care for the elderly in Latin America and the Caribbean. At the rate of population ageing in the region, 14 million will be needed by 2050.

How to move towards more training and professionalisation? This will be the main topic to be addressed in a webinar aimed at disseminating the results of research in the field of training for carers in long-term care centres in Colombia, Costa Rica and Uruguay.
