Carla Santiago Isasi

A professional with over sixteen years’ experience in the field of disability, specialising in the development of personalised support, social inclusion, community participation and the promotion of people’s rights. Throughout her career, she has led support teams and services, supporting people with disabilities in achieving their life goals and participating in the design and implementation of innovative models of community-based support.

She has also trained as a community connector, driving initiatives aimed at strengthening social participation and building natural support networks. Her professional experience has been characterised by the promotion of self-determination, the right of individuals to make decisions about their own lives, and the development of care models based on dignity, autonomy and inclusion.

She currently works as a specialist in the Improvement and Learning Department at Fundación Matia Instituto, where she supports teams and professionals in processes to transform support and care systems. Her work focuses on designing and delivering training programmes from a rights-based approach, facilitating spaces for reflection and learning to improve professional practice, and supporting change processes in different care settings, including home care, day centres and residential care homes.
