Laura Fernández

Laura Fernández is a Sociocultural Anthropologist from the University of Deusto, holds a Master's Degree in Fundamental Rights and Public Powers from the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) and is a Professional Expert in Cognitive Accessibility, Easy Reading and other resources from the UNED.
Professionally linked to the world of functional diversity since 2002, she has mainly worked in the third sector, managing projects related to independent living, innovation and decision-making support for people with intellectual functional diversity. Since the approval and entry into force of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, she has dedicated part of her professional activity to dissemination, training and research related to the effective application of this standard.
Within the Matia Institute, her interests are mainly focused on lines of research that seek to improve the participation of individuals in the design, implementation and evaluation of services and resources, as well as in the research projects themselves, exploring methodologies that promote inclusive research.
Improving the quality of care and developing collaborative working systems and decision-making support are some of the topics addressed in the projects in which she is also involved.
She is a member of the Matia Human Rights Committee as a human rights expert.
